About the event
Join us for an interactive, one-day, basic tallow rendering and simple soap making experience. We will begin the day by processing the raw fat for rendering. We will discuss the various methods of rendering tallow as our fat begins the rendering process.
We will then step in to the experience of hot process soap making, which will provide you with a bar of ready to use soap by the time you head home. While the soap is processing, we will whip a tallow balm, teaching you another great use for the simple yet versatile tallow.
This class will allow you to experience the basic processes of both rendering and soap making in a safety conscious environment with guidance each step of the way. You will leave with rendered tallow, a whipped tallow balm and a bar of soap, all that you have had a hand in making.
We will discuss the significance of tallow rendering and tallow soaps in sustainable practices, some of the common methods, and the health and beauty benefits of the products. You will be able to ask any questions you have about these processes and I will offer my advice and share my experiences.
